Cornerstone has a variety of classes that can meet your needs and season of life. Here are some frequently asked questions including our current class schedule.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. WHAT IS A SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS OR SMALL GROUP MEETING LIKE?
Each class is unique, but most start off with a bit of social time to catch up with each other, then move to a time of discussion about a Bible passage, book, or DVD series, and then end with prayer for each other and the greater community. Often, food and fellowship is involved…!
2. WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
Sunday school classes meet for 45 minutes to an hour each Sunday morning. Small Groups that are planned throughout the year will meet once a week or every other week for about an hour and a half to two hours.
3. WHAT KIND OF CLASSES DO WE HAVE AT CORNERSTONE?
9:00 A.M. Children’s Church – We believe it is important for children to attend church with the larger congregation. During the 9 a.m. service, children in pre-K through third grade sit with parents until after the children’s sermon. Then they meet in the Education Building to hear the same Bible story as their parents in the larger worship service.
10:00 A.M. Sunday School – Children’s classes use the Methodist curriculum, Grow, Proclaim, Serve!, to help children unlock the Bible and allow the faith to grow. Classes meet in the left side of the Education Building.
10:00 A.M. Sunday School – Sharing in the Bible and Christian fellowship. Classes meet at the far end of the left side of the Education Building.
ADULTS AT 10:00 A.M.
Fellowship/Friendship Class (Education Room 228) — This class is for adults 50+ who eat together once per month and share coffee and treats during Sunday School. They welcome all who desire to seriously study the bible and study curriculum based bible studies.
LIGHT (Education Room 224) – Short-term studies typically from Cokesbury for adults. They are a very friendly, welcoming class.
Parents of Teens (Sanctuary Room 114) – This group of parents shares concerns and participates in Bible Studies focusing on family life and development.
Pathfinders (Sanctuary Room 213) – This class of Adults (generally 60+) uses Adult Bible Study materials with rotating teachers. The class shares joys and concerns, loves to sing and enjoys a good laugh.
The Reflection (Education Room 226) – For all adults focusing on growing in Discipleship and doing mission work for our community. Topics covered usually appeal to young families and young professionals.
Upper Room (Education – Fellowship Hall – Left side) – For Baby Boomers, this class focuses on current events as related to Biblical teachings and invites you to join them for frequent fellowship dinners.
Venture (Education Room 225) – A class for juniors and seniors in high school and college students.
Willing Disciples (Education – Fellowship Hall – Right side) — This class for adults 50+ focuses on lively Bible discussions and supporting the church as needs arise.
4. IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED?
The nursery is always staffed for Sunday School classes all morning every Sunday. For Small Groups meeting throughout the week, childcare is worked out by each group (there may be a small fee to cover babysitters).
